A Decentralized 3D Mapping Protocol

MAP is a decentralized mapping protocol where peer-to-peer networks contribute mapping information about their location and embed information for each other.
This protocol provides a highly accurate and consistently up-to-date 3D map of the world intended to enable applications across the planet to access a unified, digital representation of the physical world.
Anyone with a depth sensing camera device can contribute to MAP.
When using an app that leverages a depth sensing camera to capture their environment,

Submitted mapping information periodically undergoes rounds of content verification by consensus of the community where common features are identified. Valid mapping submissions are rewarded with MAP Tokens (MPT).
Through everyone’s frequent contribution, we can all have an accurate and up-to-date digital representation of our world.
Build rich and accurate location-based applications and services on the MAP blockchain.
Leverage the MAP blockchain to build rich and accurate location-based apps and services, be it location-based information, augmented reality data, autonomous vehicle, drone routes, or any other information that requires location for context.
Anyone can embed digital information onto the MAP blockchain where it will be reflected in the real world, however, MAP can only handle a set amount of transactions per hour. Transaction bandwidth is allocated based on MPT network ownership.
A store can embed their cafe deal into specific spots (such as outside of the entrances for all of their retail locations) once and all devices and apps will be able to pull this information, allowing for a “Save once use everywhere” model.
MAP intends to provide a protocol for the world to speak for itself because our future requires a mapping system that provides a higher level of detail about the world around us that can also update itself as the world changes.

Arnaud Dazin is the Creator and Chief Executive Officer of MAP LTD. Arnaud is an engineering architect whose work in video games, healthtech and adtech has garnered him international recognition. He has been at the forefront of free-to-play’s rise for both PC and mobile, most notably as an early employee at mobile games giant Storm8, a network with over a billion downloads and 50 million monthly active users. He has an active interest in robotics, artificial intelligence, computer vision, and augmented reality. This deep appreciation for technology fostered a longstanding dream of creating the MAP—a decentralized, dynamic distributed layer of the world around us—and compelled him to make his vision a reality.

My N. Tran is a world-renowned, award-winning free-to-play game designer and product executive. Guided by her instinct for aesthetics and a drive for innovation, her live-operations designs have garnered three games in the Top-100 Grossing apps on iTunes and Google Play—“Life is Crime” (2011), “Brightwood Adventures” (2012), “Castle Story” (2014). My takes particular pride in “Life is Crime”, a location-based social mobile game, as its success reinforced her belief that merging real world locations with a shared fantasy game layer has the power to bring people together in a meaningful way. As Chief Product Officer and Co-Founder of MAP LTD, her knowledge in location-based design is an integral element in creating a mapping protocol for the future. My is also the Chief Product Officer and Co-Founder of ADVR, a company specializing in user-oriented advertising and monetization in virtual and augmented reality. She is a prominent voice in the video game industry and has given talks about game monetization in Tel-Aviv, Amsterdam and in her native USA.

Stephen Ip is the Chief Business Development Officer of MAP LTD. He also leads partnership initiatives as the Chief Business Development Officer of ADVR.IO. Stephen cut his teeth in entertainment, garnering millions of organic social media impressions in the music, film and video games industries. He notably created the indie, award-winning mobile game “Nameless: the Hackers RPG”. Stephen has worked on global projects within the music industry; he oversaw production on Grammy Award Winner DJ Spinderella’s nationally syndicated radio show “The Backspin” and led production projects for Def Jam Japan’s Sphere of Influence and Taiwan’s legendary hip-hop group Machi. He also co-produced beats for Youtube’s Comedy Group JK Films, namely “Freaky Girls” and “Car Wash”, both of which gained millions of views. Stephen is a contributing writer for VRScout, a top publication in the VR/AR space.
Mirza Tahir Ahmed, Ph.D.
Lead 3D Vision Engineer
Dr. Mirza Tahir Ahmed is a dedicated computer vision engineer who has worked in machine vision for last 12 years, developing various image processing and 3D vision algorithms. In 2016, Dr. Tahir was awarded a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Queen’s University at Kingston. It was during his time at Queen’s University that he developed Virtual Interest Points for noisy and data density invariant point cloud registration (stitching). With this novel technique, frames captured using various depth sensors are stitched together to generate a map of the environment. The technique is revolutionary in that it also resolves the problem of locating the sensor in 6 degrees-of-freedom in the map. In 2015, Dr. Tahir’s research on point cloud registration was recognized and awarded as the “Best Robotic Vision Paper” by the Computer and Robot Vision conference. Though cloud point registration remains his primary research objective, his active research interests in object detection, recognition, and pose determination inspired him to develop a classification technique for segmented region recognition that computes features using shape curvature. He continues to cultivate curiosity for augmented reality, interactive projectors and machine learning.
Senior Blockchain Engineer
Satish is a hands-on software architect and principal engineer with over 15 years of experience building enterprise and consumer-facing web applications. Before joining MAP LTD., he worked as a senior engineer for Libra, using both public and enterprise blockchains to build native applications that are also equipped with regulatory and reconciliation systems. Satish has also held a lasting interest in 3D-mapping, and his expertise helped startups build navigation solutions by using combination of Cisco/Apple Beacon based solutions and integrating data-sets from Tomtom, ArcGis, Google Maps and OpenStreet Maps. Satish worked at Coinalytics, where he built middleware and front-end platform for bitcoin’s blockchain analytics. Satish completed his Masters in Computer Science course work at Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago.
Qinchun Qian, Ph.D.
3D Computer Vision Engineer
Dr. Qinchun Qian is an engineer and researcher with over eight years of experience in 2D and 3D computer vision. During his time working at industrial startups, he developed a comprehensive understanding of state-of-the-art augmented reality technologies like simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), 3D object detection, recognition and tracking. As a senior researcher at Arfront Technlogies Inc, he led a research and development team to build and shape the company’s future technical vision. His leadership in computer vision is also shaped by his prior work as a computer vision specialist at Globalive XMG Inc, where he was responsible for researching, prototyping, designing and developing advanced computer vision, image processing and machine learning techniques for augmented reality. Dr. Qian earned his Ph.D. in Computer Vision and Machine learning from Louisiana State University, where he achieved outstanding academic performance and strong publication record.
James F. Ruffer III is the founder of DB|Migrate, a decentralized development team in the FinTech/Blockchain space, and leads a team responsible for building and deploying Blockchain, Ethereum, and smart contract applications. He has, since 2015, used his hands-on experience with DevOps, Ruby, Solidity and project management to assist Caribbean-based companies with digital fiat currencies (eCurrency). Before DBMigrate, James co-founded Fintech companies Paay and ePayment, through which he created a mobile wallet and the first e-commerce solution for Facebook pages. He also served on the tech advisory board for EMVCo and provided the input that helped Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB, and UnionPay write the current rules for 3dSecure 2.0.

Jerzy Biernacki is currently a senior software developer and DevOps for the development shop in Poland listed in Deloitte Technology Fast 50 CE. His background in development and operations is in multiple languages including PHP, JS, GoLang, Reactjs, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, DigitalOcean, Nginx, Apache and much more. He has already been involved in projects in the Fintech space that have utilized blockchain technology such as Alphapoint, Bitt, RootPayments, and BitPay. He has also worked directly with fortune companies like EMVCo, VIsa, MasterCard, First Data, Moneris to help them complete new age technology.
John D. Russell
John D. Russell has been working in the field of large scale precision mapping for more than 20 years. John’s career began in the field of photogrammetry, where he developed innovative methodology for optimized high precision aero-triangulation (automation) of multi-view aerial optical imagery. As large format digital aerial cameras became commercially viable in 2000, John transitioned his professional efforts toward distributive ground processing for large scale multi-spectral sensors. His expertise has generated a global reputation, and he has met this demand with work performed for national mapping agencies in both Europe and the Middle East. In 2009, John leveraged his knowledge of complex multi-view aerial imagery, most commonly referred to as oblique imagery, to develop highly automated precision 3D extraction technology for 3D City models. His work in precision 3D City models guided him to further explore cutting-edge map tech. John has since established himself as an industry leader in HD Maps for Autonomous Driving, where he currently continues to publish patents and develop innovative solutions for the world’s leading automotive companies.
